Terms of Service
Contractual terms governing your purchases and use of Mixel, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Last updated: September 2026
1. Trader Identification & Contract Formation
These terms govern all transactions on mixel.uk, operated by Electrical Warehouse Ltd, trading as Mixel ("we", "us", "our").
Registered Office: Electrical Warehouse Ltd, 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF, United Kingdom.
Company Registration: 16170943 (Registered in England and Wales).
Customer Support: [email protected]
A legally binding contract between you and Electrical Warehouse Ltd is formed when we issue an order confirmation email and generate your unique Order Reference (e.g. MXL-XXXXXX) following successful payment via Stripe.
2. Nature of Goods & DIY Assembly Safety
Unassembled Craft Kits: All Mixel products are supplied as self-assembly craft kits containing loose coloured glass tiles, an individually laser-engraved numbered wooden backing board, and water-based craft adhesive. The final artistic appearance depends upon customer assembly.
Glass Handling & Age Warning: Mixel tiles are genuine glass pieces with tumbled edges. While finished to be safe for craft assembly, broken or chipped tiles can present sharp edges and small loose tiles are a choking hazard. Mixel kits are recommended for individuals aged 14 and older, or children under direct adult supervision. Keep out of reach of children under 3 years old.
3. Custom Uploads & Intellectual Property Warranty
When using our Interactive Studio to upload photos, illustrations, or graphics for bespoke mosaic conversion:
- You warrant that you own all copyright, trademark, and intellectual property rights in the uploaded image, or have obtained written authorisation from the copyright holder to reproduce it.
- You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Electrical Warehouse Ltd, its directors, and employees against any third-party claims, legal fees, or damages resulting from intellectual property infringement associated with images you provide.
- We reserve the right to cancel and refund any order containing imagery that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, or in breach of third-party copyright.
4. Cancellations & Right of Withdrawal
Our cancellation policies operate under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (CCR 2013):
Bespoke / Custom Kits (Statutory Exemption under Regulation 28(1)(b)):
Under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the CCR 2013, the standard 14-day statutory right of cancellation does not apply to goods that are made to the consumer's specifications or are clearly personalised. Because custom Mixel kits require precision laser-cutting of your specific dimensions and individual machine-counting/bagging of tile colours tailored to your artwork, custom kits cannot be cancelled, modified, or refunded once laser fabrication and tile packing have commenced.
2-Hour Cancellation Grace Period: As a courtesy to our customers, you may cancel a custom kit order within 2 hours of placing it for an immediate full refund by emailing [email protected] with your Order ID before your board enters our cutting queue.
Standard Pre-Made Catalogue Kits: For off-the-shelf, non-custom catalogue designs, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period from the date of delivery to cancel. Kits must be returned unopened, unused, in original packaging with all tile pouches sealed. The customer is responsible for return postage unless the item is defective.
5. Damaged Goods & Free Replacement Guarantee
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all goods supplied must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described.
- 5% Spare Tile Buffer: Every Mixel kit includes approximately 5% additional spare tiles per colour pouch free of charge to account for accidental drops, assembly mistakes, or minor surface chips.
- Free Replacement Dispatch: If any glass tiles arrive damaged in transit or if your backing board is cracked, email 1–2 photos to [email protected] within 30 days of delivery. We will dispatch replacement tiles or boards within 24–48 hours at zero cost without requiring damaged glass to be returned.
- 30-Day Early Right to Reject: If a product is fundamentally defective, you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of delivery under Section 20 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
6. Pricing & Taxes
All prices are stated in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). As Electrical Warehouse Ltd currently operates under the UK annual taxable turnover threshold for small businesses, VAT is not applicable and is not charged. Prices represent the full gross amount payable.
7. Limitation of Liability & Governing Law
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, fraud, or statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under English law. Subject to this, our total aggregate liability is limited to the purchase price paid for the products ordered.
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Consumers in Scotland and Northern Ireland may additionally bring actions in their respective local courts.
