Cookie & Storage Policy
How Mixel uses browser local storage and essential session cookies to preserve your shopping basket and deliver secure checkout.
Last updated: September 2026
1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
This policy explains how Electrical Warehouse Ltd, trading as Mixel ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies, browser localStorage, and sessionStorage on mixel.uk.
Unlike traditional websites that rely heavily on invasive third-party tracking scripts, Mixel prioritises client-side privacy. We primarily utilise browser local storage to keep your custom mosaic designs in your basket as you navigate between our studio, curated catalogue, and checkout.
2. Comprehensive Storage Inventory
Below is the complete list of client-side storage keys and cookies used on our website:
| Identifier | Technology | Category | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
mixel_cart |
localStorage |
Strictly Necessary | Stores your custom mosaic kits, tile colour arrays, board dimensions, and pricing so items stay in your basket while browsing. | Persistent until checkout or manually cleared |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid |
HTTP Cookie | Strictly Necessary | Injected securely by Stripe Payments UK Ltd to detect fraud and securely tokenise card transactions. | 1 Year / Session |
mixel_editor_state |
sessionStorage |
Functional | Temporarily preserves canvas crop zoom, active colour swatch, and grid toggles across page refreshes. | Session (cleared on browser close) |
3. Legal Exemption for Strictly Necessary Storage
Under Regulation 6(4) of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and UK GDPR guidelines, cookies and local storage items that are strictly necessary for providing an online service explicitly requested by the user are exempt from requiring prior consent.
Because Mixel does not run third-party advertising trackers, cross-site profiling beacons, or marketing cookies, all active cookies and storage keys are strictly required to assemble and purchase your craft kit.
4. Managing and Clearing Your Storage
You can inspect, clear, or block cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy & Security → Third-party cookies → See all site data and permissions.
- Apple Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions.
Please note: Clearing your browser's local storage for mixel.uk will empty any unsaved custom mosaics currently in your shopping basket.
